HP 1740 Monitor

I have been using the above monitor for over 6 years and recently the monitor will suddenly go blank. I have rebooted, restarted to no avail, but after a few hours it will go back on, work for several hours and then go blank again. This has been occurring for several weeks now----any ideas on what's wrong?

I also have an HP 1740 which had similar symptoms. After removing the covers and while removing the power supply pcb, the IEC power socket fell away from the pcb. A classic case of bad solder joints where the socket was soldered to the pcb.
With luck your problem may be as simple. Removing the old solder and remaking the joints was required.
