My best game by far(but not my highest score). Earned two "Gift from
the Elves" two extra balls, and even destroyed the Ring! Could have
done better though. Somehow I actually missed the left flipper button
and lost ball three. Major choke. I know this is a ho-hum game for most
of you guys but I had a blast and wanted to share.

Good job! Don't short-change yourself; defeating Balrog is not THAT
easy. The point is YOU are having fun and obviously improving above
your previous results. Don't worry about the rest of us. Do it again
and set your sights on another goal.

Have fun.

I agree. I think I have completed FoTR multiball in one multiball once.
Every other time it has taken twice or more. RoTK isn't a cakewalk
either. You can't run out of tough objectives on this game! It's the
bane of my existence. I mean, I LOVE it, but it abuses me pitilessly.
Jousting with it is great fun.

CONGRATS!!!

I've had my LOTR for a little over 2 weeks and had the thrill of
beating the Balrog only once. What an absolute blast! To boot it was
on a single ball. Love this pin!

My wife, who is not a pin fan BTW, heard me beat him from upstairs and
congratulated me when I came up. I had told her earlier what needed to
be done to beat him and that if she ever heard "YOU SHALL NOT PASS"
from the basement that it would immediately be followed by my screams
of joy. I think I actually yelled "Take that you #$@%".

Great pin! Enjoy reaching that goal and look forward to Valinor as I
am. Have you hit There and back again? I've hit this once so far.

Valinor awaits us both!

Congrats again...

Are you kidding? Any game where you defeat the Balrog can not be
described as ho-hum!!!

Well done!

Haven't got to "there and back again" yet. My best so far is 4 modes
started. I've managed to win two modes in a game only a few times. I
don't know how these guys do it. Valinor seems unobtainable at this
point. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. It will keep me coming
back for years to come and even if I never get there, it's still the
best pinball I've ever played. Matt B.

I get to DTR fairly often it seems, but finishing all the modes to
start TABA is a LOT harder. I think I have only done it twice in over a
year of owning the game.

You don't have to finish (ie complete) the 6 modes to get TABA, just
start all 6. Finishing modes is critical for earning gifts on your way
to Valinor.

I haven't made it to Valinor either, so take this with a grain of salt,
but here's a couple of things you might want to try. You can step the
ring light with your flippers, so you can "set up" what mode you want
to start from a cradle. Wait to shoot the ring to start the mode until
a multiball is lit. Then start the mode first, and then the multiball
as soon after as you can. Then you have several balls to help complete
the mode for you. One you have the mode start lit, try to loop Man ring
shots consecutively to get to Gollum quicker. Then start Gollum and
then the mode and you have one extra ball to complete the mode with.
Don't forget to shoot the tower to light palantir. It adds a ball in
multiball and adds time at the end of a mode.

This may or may not be good advice as I haven't made it to Valinor
trying to implement this strategy.
