In Orlando, Florida, USA, at Rocky's Replay there is a NASCAR machine.
My review? I love the layout. Great angles. Deep enough rules.
BUT
Now that the game is up to 25 million to win, the A.I. (Artificial
Intelligence) is really making it tough. I can stand how hard it is,
generally, because I like a challenge and have enough money to put my
2nd, 3rd, or even 4th set of 2 quarters in if I have to. However, The
test car is throwing MANY balls right down the middle, appearing to me
to get worse as it gets harder. Now I'm pretty sure that Stern did not
intentionally design the game to screw you in that way, even if they
would like to keep the replays down. Or did they?
Is anyone else having the same problem or know of a fix for it? Seems
to me that a software fix would just be that if the ball does not
activate a switch after leaving the hole it could just give out
another ball.
Also, does anyone know of other NASCAR pins in the Orlando area?

The current lineup at Rocky's Replay in the Orlando area is:
Lord of the Rings
Sparanos
Believe it or Not
NASCAR
and I think still (I'm embarrassed to say I haven't been observant
enough to remember for sure even though I frequent the place.)
The Simpsons
BTW, a whole thread we could get going about the wonderfulness of game
room owners having the commitment year after year to have a qualified
person (In this case Doug) keep up the machines on a daily basis, like
they used to do while I was growing up playing pins. Doug told me once
that half his time of fixing games in the room is spent on the 5
pinball machines. That is commitment. Of course, the word "replay" is
in the name of the place and as far as I know "replay" originated as a
pinball term. So thanks to any of you pinball techs out there who have
a similar passion and commitment to make games play the best they can!
Where else in the Orlando area do they do this, if you know? And I
hope you have at least one place with multiple machines that are kept
up like I do. An example of Doug's dedication is that if someone in
this group suggests a doable fix, he'd give it a try if I asked him
to.

I would go to Rocky's several times a week, if they didn't allow
SMOKING!
Kills the whole arcade experience.
If I happen to be up that way when they open I'll go in for a couple
minutes til someone lights up, then I'm outta there!
