Found a nice reproducible hiccup when I was fiddling around tonight... My
machine is 4th run, sound O/S is something non-O/S 8 BTW

1. Start a game, wait for ball to eject but don't launch it.
2. Open coin door, press black button, enter Portals.
3. Launch ball and make it drain (ie don't enter Orthanc where the playfield
interlock will stop it from ejecting the ball). Ball should now be in trough.
4. Use flipper buttons to navigate through Portals choices. I'm greeted with
either Frodo asking me "Shall we try that again" or Gimli telling me "Don't move
a muscle".

Hum, sounds like an issue with the interlock relay, it shouldnt be firing
like that unless you pull out on the switch after you have opened the door.
The sound bits you are hering are ball saves bacause the door was open when
the ball went back into the trough.

My only point with this is that the ball saver sound shouldn't be repeating
ad-nauseum once you're in the diagnostics menus.
