when i try to install my HP Cd writer 9100 series software, after the install shield wizard thing goes to 100%, the blue screen comes up and says "an error has occured" and there's all the stuff about ctrl-alt-del to restart and whatnot, and at the bottom it says this : " File: VWIN32(05) + 00000BF4 Error : OE : 0028 : CO2A3DCC" then if i press enter to continue, it goes back to the setup and i get the first screen that has the shades of blue and the box that says the stuff like "welcome to setup", and " it is recommded to close all other programs running. this blue screen has also come up in the past with this computer when i tried to install the 4 in 1 drivers that came with my mobo, but with an updated version it didn't happen. why do i get this and how can i fix it?

UPDATE: i decided to let the install continue, and when my computer restarted after it finished, the same blue screen with that same line at the bottom appeared when windows came up. also, my Creative SB 16 PCI has a bunch of software with it, one of which is this thing called disc detector, in the system tray, and when i right-click it and select properties, i get the exact same blue screen again. why does this SAME one keep appearing? i cannot find this file on my PC. a non existent file is causing problems on my PC. makes lots of sense, doesn't it?

try Ctrl+Alt+Del and turn off all running apps before trying the install. Disc detectors, anti virus, connection detectors... all those can give you a hard time when trying to install something. Might not, but can.

Got a silent setup, now I can hear myself thinking.... great silence
