Why do my kodak easy share videos download as music on my window 7 computer

Hello,
I have a kodak easyshare c653. We took Christmas videos yesterday and tried to download them to our computer. The videos playback on the camera normally but when we try downloading to the computer they download as music files, not video. Even if we place the external memory into the computer and try playing the videos directly from the memory card they play as music files.
How do I get the video transferred to my computer correctly and not loose our holiday videos?

I don't think Windows 8 comes with the codex to view those videos. Download VLC video player and you should be good to go. It will update the program preferences so your videos will play as they should.
