Where does AMD do the majority of their manufacturing? Here in the states or overseas? Any insight into this subject is welcome.

They are pretty close to IBM so they probably get some help from them.

The know-most-of-it-all formally known as BOBSHACK

I think most of their mfring is in Germany.

Edit: I was obviously wrong with the first version...

AFAIK all of their cpu manufacturing is done in Dresden. Maybe some embedded stuff and flash is fabbed elsewhere, but anything we care about comes from AMDs FAB30 in Germany.

AMD did sign a deal with Chartered to second source cpu production from them. The deal is supposed to go live in 2006, but there are still some question marks surrounding it. One of them is the german government not wanting AMD to export their technology (or has that been solved meanwhile ?). Another one is that Chartered must get familiar with AMDs/IBMs 90nm SOI process. A third one is a personal one, I wonder why AMD would need that much capacity, since in 2006 they will be roughly tripling their own capacity as FAB36 goes online. If Im not mistaken AMD had made a similar deal a few years ago (was it UMC ?) that never materialized.
