I am looking at 3 different monitors. Can you guys please give me some advice on which one to buy. (I am also open to other monitor recommendations, trying to keep it at about $300).

1) Acer H274HLBMID Black 27" 5ms Full HD HDMI LED BackLight LCD Monitor w/Speakers 300 cd/m2 100,000,000:1 Max (ACM)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Final Price (Including Shipping/Tax/coupon code): $276.11
(notes: Slow 5ms response time)

2) Samsung P2770FH 27" Widescreen LCD Monitor - 1080p, 1920x1080, 16:9, 70000:1 Dynamic, 1000:1 Native, 1ms, DVI, HDMI
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/ite...
Final Price (Including Shipping/Tax/coupon code): $299.99
(notes: No back light, super fast 1ms response, Samsung provides better color/quality than acer?)

3) Asus VE248H Black 24" 1920X1080 2ms Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor w/Speakers 250 cd/m2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Final Price (Including Shipping/Tax/coupon code): $190.31
(notes: Smaller screen, lower brightness 250 cd/m2, But look how cheap it is)

I’m not sure how to weigh response time vs brightness, or how important a back light is. All three monitors seem to use a different scale for contrast so I can’t tell which is better. This is for my wife’s mac book so no matter what I will have to buy a mini display port adapter. (She uses it mostly for viewing photos and videos taken with our cannon powershot camera as well as facebook. No gaming/No blu-ray movies)

I would take a look at IPS Panels. They usually have better viewing angles combined with good response time and minimal input lag.
