I have an old sound card Creative PCI 128 bought in 2001.

I have integrated sound in my motherboard which is Intel Desktop Board D865PERL, it's Sound Max AC97.

My question is this, should I use my PCI sound card instead of the integrated?

Will it take off load from CPU?

Will it improve sound quality?

Will it do anything else? Bad or good?

your ears are your ears and only you would know which one is best for you. try them both and take the one you feel that sound the best.

The integrated chip will use slightly more of the chip's resources, but with a P4c, or scotty, it's just too little to notice.

Of course one could always do comparative tests of performance and quality without and then with the card and decide for one's self. ;)
