Yeah, I know it's old but i keep updating my gfx card instead :D

I was wondering if anyone knows this:

I have a 400Mhz Mobo and 400Mhz RAM (1024) but I have to set my FSB to 133 in order to get the +2000 setting (133 X 12.5 I think) but this is running everything at 266. I thought the +2000 was at least 333 but I cant remember?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Could I not get away with setting the CPU to 100Mhz at 12.5, and have it running 1.25 gig instead of the 1.67 gig now?

This would give me my 400Mhz bus, or am I talking crap?

Mine's a Palomino. I keep on about updating it, but I can't get hold of a Athlon +3000 (400Mhz) or is it the +3200...

I have an ABIT NF7-S version 2 with an XP 2600+ mobile, runs GREAT at 2.4 GHz (200x12), usually leave it at 2.2 for low noise & temps. You might have a problem if your ABIT isn't version 2.

Just run sandra and it says

Version: 2.X,1.0 (Ill open the case later)

If this is version 1, can be flashed to make similar to the version 2? Am I reading these posts right? Are you guys telling me to put a laptop chip in here?

It's been a while since I was online and am a bit out of touch with the latest stuff...

I've just had a look and and there's a sticker near the PCI's that has a long serial no' with NF7-S v2.0

I'll get the latest flash now. So are you guys using mobile CPU's in your boards?

Sorry, but yeh, you're talking crap. 100MHz is DDR200. You'd need 200MHz to be DDR400. If your multiplier was unlocked, you could try 8x200 to get 1600MHz and DDR400 speed.

Just flashed to latest BIOS. I thought the CPU was designed for 133X2 ?

So how do i unlock the multiplier? I'm going to buy a XP-M and HSF but in the meantime, if I could get a bit more out of the FSB...

yes, the CPU is designed for 133MHz using a DDR bus just like RAM does.

That xp-m chip has an unlocked multiplier. While they are run @ 133 fsb in laptops, they are quite happy to run @ 200mhz fsb (ddr400) or better, with any multiplier up to 12.5.
I ran my old xp-m2500+ at 11X220. on that mobo. Very nice.

Got a couple of bids going on eBay. Should have something by the end of this week. I'm really keen to get an XP-M after hering all the good feedback about them. What price range should I be looking at for a HSF for over-clocking it.
here's one bid im looking at: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AMD-Athlon-XP-M-Mobile-1800-CPU-for-Laptop-Notebook_W0QQitemZ6799975760QQcategoryZ51162QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

What's the lowest rating I should go? (1800+), also this doesn't mention if it's unlocked.

BTW don't get that one. You have to get one that's Barton core, they run cool and have extra cache.
