Can't run programs after overnight

Last response: in Windows 7

I usually DL stuff and let my computer run overnight. The problem with that is it "hangs" and won't let me run applications, programs or anything at all. I can't even restart it via the restart button. Nothing happens. However, I can still close programs that were left open.

This has been bothering me since my internet connection seems to stop too so my downloads are stopped and basically I just wasted electricity for running the computer overnight.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

look for process that are consuming tons of memory when it is playing up, can you get to taskmanager?

Nope, I can't even open it. ctrl+alt+del does nothing.

So it maybe memory leaks?

check your power and screen saver settings, make sure they are turned off so they don't cause problems with your apps, and just turn the monitor off at night

can you set task manager running before the issues start and have it prioritised by memory usage, then see how it looks when it freezes up?

Can you change you torrent manager? its most likely to be an issue as everything else is something that all of us have.

Im not using torrents, I'm downloading via rapidshare manager.

I think it's a memory issue since a fresh start from my pc , i have a least 2.75gb free then after some time i only have 500mb free

does rapidshare holdstuffin memory before dumping to disk? can you change those settings?

what does task manager say whilst it is still responsive with regards to which process is using the memory?
