Can't run programs after overnight

I usually DL stuff and let my computer run overnight. The problem with that is it "hangs" and won't let me run applications, programs or anything at all. I can't even restart it via the restart button. Nothing happens. However, I can still close programs that were left open.

This has been bothering me since my internet connection seems to stop too so my downloads are stopped and basically I just wasted electricity for running the computer overnight.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  6. can you set task manager running before the issues start and have it prioritised by memory usage, then see how it looks when it freezes up?
