HUO Shadow

Probably cost $3300 brand new plus shipping

With inflation that $3300 would be $4500 today

Auction is finished by the way ....

Ebay is way overrated when it comes to drawing money

Chris told me that the two worst deals he ever did came off of Ebay
sales

I laugh when people call it "Epay"

No magic, especially when you are done paying all of their fees

To Mr. Gloom and Doom...I mean Gary:

The Shadow you linked is mine. I was offered OVER $4000 to end the
auction and decided to hold out for more. I felt I wasn't getting the
price I wanted due to not enough photos. I am currently home for 2 days
in between trips and will relist in late October or early November when
I get time to get to storage and get the pics. A lot of RGP'ers
e-mailed me for pics, but I didn't have the time to take more pics due
to extensive travel I do during the summer. When I relist, I'll be sure
to e-mail you and will look for your input instead of using the sellers
tools available from E-Bay.

I have a very nice Shadow that was routed briefly. Even though mine's
not HUO I wouldn't take $3K either. I'm not surprised you were offered
$4K for yours, nice copies are hard to find.

Damn, you passed on $4K. Sorry, but that is straight greed. Good
luck later on. I bet you won't even get $4K for it.

PL ...

I am not Mr. Doom and Gloom

That's what it is ... tell people what they don't want to hear and they
all freak out especially when it has to do with money

In the year 2000 a lot of people were warned about the stock market
being too hot, and few listened

I don't think this market is too hot ...

Figure this, the person that bought that machine NIB paid $3500 or so
with taxes and shipping and whatever ... You were just offered $4000
for the machine, probably in great condition. Having more pictures
won't help that much, because in the ad you came off as an honest guy.

I take your word that the machine is close to perfect

Anyway, going from $3500 to $4000 or even $4500 in 10 years is how much
gain per year?

Maybe 3% .....

That is not a bubble market ...

The current prices of games are very fair, but it isn't like people are
getting rich or even keeping up with inflation with these games

just the facts ...

After owning one, it's a great game but not great enough to basically
look the same as mine except no Sanctum wear covered with a nice label
and 3300 bucks.

Skeets,

I didn't know I had to run my topics past you first

All I did the other day, was post a link to a T3 HUO with the comment
that the falling price wasn't good for Stern

They rely on the home market ... a bad re-sale could hurt future sales
if people like me are not crazy about taking that huge a hit

Behind the scenes everyone is telling me that Stern is hurting this
year

and of course, the 5%, the freaks, flip out ....

so go look at your buddies first ....

I have 28 pins and I could give two darns what they are worth, because
I am not selling any of them

But tell you what, next time I want to bring something up, I will email
you in private and get your permission

OK?

=)

Really not trying to be negative or anything here, but I had a
beautiful one, with no wear, fully working, fully shopped, basically
perfect and had a hard time geting 1500.00, even though Ebay at Xmas
last year. Why would someone turn down 4K, for that kind of money you
can get a fantastic TZ or TAF or even a CV.. I know a HUO Congo was
bought here not too long ago for somewhere around 1100.. Again, not
trying to be rude or nasty, really just asking why someone would not
take 4K and expect more that that for The Shadow...

The guy has to apologize for speaking the truth (Balboa)

The bottom line is that the "bubble" in pin prices is a fraud

It does not exist

Aside from a very few titles, pin prices are about the same as they
have always been, give or take

The only guys who are producing pins that have a hope of holding value
are the very top restoration guys like Chris Hutchins

And even those games, once out of his hands will lose a bit because too
many collectors have been lied to about game condition

The few times I have tried to sell games long distance, I almost felt
like the buyer wanted to hook me up to a lie detector machine or
something, so he would know he wouldn't get burned

They know Chris won't lie, but they don't trust the next guy in line as
much

anyway ...

=)

Stern got their money for that T3 already.

I disagree, STERN DOES NOT RELY ON THE HOME MARKET...that is a BS statement
made up by you.

If they make a good game, it will sell, look at how many runs of TSPP and
LOTR their was/is

Gary,

I wish you would just crawl back under your rock or into PEG. Its sure
been nice without you. I am one of the 99.9% who feel this way. I am
not jealous of you in any way. I have a great collection which I have
restored myself. That makes my games worth more to me than anything I
could ever buy from Allen or Chris. And by the way, I actually play
and enjoy my games rather than just stare at them and brag about them.

Gary, did I mention that you are a moron? HUO WPC games are rare
compared to HUO Stern titles. With all of the HUO Sterns out there; of
course they will draw less money. Especially the less popular titles
like T3. You think Stern cares what machines sell for used when they
don't collect any of the money? As a liberal talk show host I wouldn't
expect you to understand a difficult concept like that.

I have seen PL's HUO Shadow up close and personal. My jaw dropped. It
is basically new. Can't have more than a couple hundred games on it.
Were it not for a poor design that should have included mylar on the
sanctum, this game could pass for NIB. I wish I had the money and
(more importantly) the space to buy this machine.

John (one of the 99.9%)

This is entirely false. Stern does not rely on the home market at all.
They are trying to expand into the home market, but distributors are
the only market they rely on. I could explain it further, but I'm sure
you wouldn't comprehend.

IF you would learn to READ...you can clearly see in the one pic it was
3595.00...plus the sales tax, thus making it MORE than 3300....Hooked on
Phonics didn't work for you huh?

Who is everyone?? Why are they telling you? Do you hide under Gary Stern's
desk hoping to get a good peek up his trousers? Stern's selling games...I
see many on location...get out of the desert and perhaps you'll see some of
them.

There are more Stern games on location around here than you've had hot
meals.

HUO or not, a game that averages $1200 in decent condition isn't worth
$4k with a little more shine or a plastic or two not broken. just a
couple of months ago, fully working shopped shadows were selling for
900-1100. I mean, would you think a HUO Dr.Who or Batman Forever
would be worth 4k? they average about the same if not little more than
shadow. I mean, yea you can find someone that doesn't know better to
bite once in awhile. does that mean that's the way the market is
going. Definately not. cuz there are only so many out there that
don't know better.
