That may be a bit presumptuous. Not too long ago, I started down the
road of sourcing everything NOS I could find for this title and this
piece was one of the few items I could not find anywhere. I've since
decided against this title, otherwise I would have certainly tried to
win this auction. This rare NOS part thing works both ways. It is
very likely that CRW paid dearly (market value) for other NOS parts
that he needed. I would not expect him to discount rare parts to a
total stranger. I give stuff away often, but never rare NOS stuff that
can help me recoup some of my own NOS parts purhases.

Market value is what the market is willing to pay. I just paid $500
for a NOS left ramp assembly for TOTAN - Does that make the seller a
"scumbag" or "greedy"? Quite the contrary - as rare as these are, I
was just glad there was still one available out there for me to
purchase. Scarce items in any field will always fetch premium prices.

Yes, I feel he did earn it. We sold our house 2 years ago and the
buyer just sold it this year for $80K more because the market value
increased. So is this person now a scumbag because they didn't *earn*
the $80K by trading hours for it but rather by benefiting from it's
increased value? Hardly.

You also may want to consider buying outside your local area. The last
3 games I purchased were not local and there were all excellent deals.
rgp'ers here are what made that happen - just took a little research.
