I have a Booz Barometer project, if anybody has one or knows how they
work, I need a little help. When I hook up the battery (6 volt), the
coil kicks on and holds. I think that should not happen until coin is
inserted and trips coin swicth? Is that correct, if so, must be wired
wrong? Thanks Mark

The coil should not hold until the coin is inserted. Check the switch
contacts to make sure they're not in contact before a coin is inserted (and
before you power it up). I have one of these and can have a closer look at
mine for you if needed.

Marvin,
Thanks for getting back with me. I sent you a follow up email, not
sure if you received it so I thought that I would post back here as
well. That is what I thought, that the coil should not activate until
after coin insert. I did check the coin switch, and it operates as it
should. I think that the machine is not wired properely. It is really
such a simple machine, I am frustrated that I can't figure it out. But
I just am not sure how it should work? What releases the coil, it must
somehow be tied to completing the circuit with the "hoop and maze"? If
you are able to help out with the way the wiring is suppose to be, that
would be great. The wiring block is 4 terminals on each side,
connected straight across. If you can tell me where the coin switch
connects, the battery, the coil and the "wand and maze", I think that
is all of wires. If you need any other information from me, or a
picture, please let me know. Thanks again for your help.
Mark

These look cool. I saw one in the Allentown flea market, my first Allentown
show, '98 I think. $50 if that.

They are a great addition to the game room. Lots of fun (when
working), can't quite figure mine out yet...but soon. If you see one
at that price, I wouldn't pass on it, let me know if you don't want it
: )

I have 2 of these things and have had to re-wire one to get it to work.

There is a switch that closes with the coin, two bulbs, a bell, and a
coil that pulls in to release the coin. That's it.

When you drop the coin the lights come on, when you touch the ring to
the bar the bell buzzes for a second and the coin drops.

Kirb,
I think that when I got mine, it was not wired the right way. If
possible could you be more specific on how it is wired? I am fairly
new to arcade collecting as a hobby, and I know this must seem very
simple, but I am just not sure how to rewire.
Thanks to all and anyone that can help.

I have to dig out some drop targets for a guy and send off some free
friday stuff tonight, so I will draw up a schematic as long as I'm down
there looking at the thing. Shoot me an email and I'll send you a PDF
tomorrow.

Actually there are 2 bulbs, 1 coil, 1 bell, 1 battery, 1 handle, 1 bent
rod.

There are 10 wires in the thing. It can get confusing if someone hooked
it up wrong.

You know the rule: 1 wire hook up, 2 wires f-up, 3 wires- drag up
