i get it to boot to 4.2ghz but the os wont rcognize the processor unless it is 4ghz or less, so i havent tried pushing it any higher yet, any ideas?

oh yeah its says max core clock of 4000mhz. is there something im missing?

Where does it say max of 4000Mhz? If its software like Everest, that is common but its not the limit. You said that you can get it to boot at 4.2 but the OS doesnt recognize the CPU? Are you water cooling the CPU and NB? Are you running the 14X or stock multiplier. You really need to get a full version of XP2

BTW since i'm in school, is there anywas to OC some ACER P4 northwoods and scottys with limited prelivages (user lol)? that is w/o goining into the bios (blue screen is kinda obvious that you are up to no good lol.

no im still using big ole hs/f i showed you in the pm's. the os wont load at all with anything over 4ghz. that was with both full xpsp2 and longhorn, so i run it at 4ghz right now, i wont be home again until next monday so ill write down the exact error it gives me.

Probably. Am I willing to have some poor kid lose 3 hour's last-minute work, because the machine he's using has been left unstable - by someone who overclocked it for no good reason? No.

Don't overclock stuff that isn't yours. OK, I have been known to overclock my work PC, but then:
I'm the only one who uses it;
I Specced and built it myself, so I know <i>exactly</i> what parts are inside the case;
I never pushed it any further than I was 100% sure was safe;
And I was <b>100%</b> willing to replace anything I broke out of my own pocket.

Unless your ideas match <i>all</i> those points, I would strongly advise against doing this.

meh its aword, but i would think that mo me works on these comps more than 1 hour (a period is 1 hour) and cides i was just going to see if it could be done as most stuff in here is locked so it would be nice to see something exciting (maybe a 100MHZ increase is enough lol nothing much.. no extreme 4GHZ OC here lol).
