Can I just invest in a PCI-e board and get a bad ass graphics card and use my same CPU (in sig) or is it going to bottle neck me to the point where I will need a 939 CPU? Two gigs of OCZ memory is on its way!! Thank god it will work and socket 754 or 939. Also, as it is I am going to have to buy a new PSU and mobo and graphics card. I am trying to NOT have to buy a CPU too. The benchmarks still rate my CPU pretty high.

If you really want a PCIe board, then Asus do a socket 754 nforce4 board, as well as some other manuf. But dont ditch your CPU for a socket 939 one. This 2.4 GHz still perform very good. Hey, It has the same specs than the 939 3800+, except for dual channel, which don't make up for more than 5-7% difference. Hey! some people are just proud about their OCed cpu to run at what yours run stock!!! Get a decent video card(psssst! an AGP x800xl should even be a good match for your system, which will prevent you to get a new board!) and by the time your system would be outdated, you'll want to get the newer things, and that wont be socket 939....
I am literally building a machine that can run a game called Oblivion (Elder Scrolls IV) and THAT game is made to run on the new 360! So the video card you mention better be up to par with the 360 because that is at LEAST what I need.
p.s. my cpu stock mhz is 2.2 not 2.4.

humm.. those 3400+ socket 754 were running at 2.4, but..Oh, I think that this is the one with 2.2 and 1 meg cache.. others are 2.4 with 512k cache. But anyway, at 2.2, and 1 meg cache, they have the same performance less sse3 and dual channel than the Athlon 64 3700+ Processor S939 San Diego, so it is nothing to be ashamed about ..
I don't know about the performance needed for that game, but remember that console are running at lower res for TV display.
Maybe you should ask gurus in the graphic card forum.. they couls advice more that I. But I've seen the x800xl running modern game at resonable resolution with high quality graphic.
also, the uli board by asrock looks really good because it has SATAII.

listen.. I'm not in your position and a big gamer, and having a system like yours, I would simply get an x800xl AGP if I was feeling in need of better gaming performance .. But it is your money, and all I can say right now is that your CPU will up to the task for some years to come.. decide for yourself what you need..
