This guy is unarguably insane. Full on, batshit crazy. Saying our federal judges are worse for America that Nazis or terrorists?

Why is this guy given any credit? Why is he not utterly destroyed by public opinion, or better yet, thrown in a mental institution? Why are his hate-filled and intolerant messages given the time of day?

It has to be because he is the face of the very large and powerful Christian Right in America. People agree with his insanity. That has to be it.

He, and others, want to turn America into a Theocratic state because they feel the rapture is coming any day now. They want to control what we all do, think, and say. They feel that their opinions are more important than anyone's freedom. And you know what, they are gaining more and more power every day. This is sad. Religion is causing wide-scale insanity in America. Yes, insanity. Anyone who believes what Pat Roberston does is not right in the head.

Woah, dude, lightning flash! You've hit on something, and I will not continue to send weekly contributions to Patsy any more!!! I can see clearly now, and I am writing a letter and calling simultaneously to tell Pat what I feel of him and his orgasm.

Oh Gawd, He just told me how I was persuaded by Satan, and never ever stop sending those contributions in or I will burn in the the deepest pits of Hell for I have seen the light but turned my back. sniff sniff.

Sorry I tried, but he is so good to me.

Been a while since I agreed with you.

If religion was all about to be in touch with one's inner self, than those bastard preachers that spread hate, it would be so much better.

These are the people that think we don't have to worry about pollution, the enviornment, or energy because they think that the rapture is coming soon, and if god did not want us to use everything we want, he wouldn't have put it there in the first place. They really are insane.

I know he doesn't like gays, but come on now, it's not like he told anyone to start killing them.

Christian Society is just fighting back against other forms of intollerance. I went to a progressive school where telling a teacher you didn't think it was OK for you to be gay was punishible by suspension. I was nearly expelled for saying that anal sex could never be considered safe, and that kids should be taught that multiple sex partners would substantially increase their risk of disease, regardless of protection.

Read the following quote of what Pat Robertson said:

"If Christian people work together, they can succeed during this decade in winning back control of the institutions that have been taken from them over the past 70 years. Expect confrontations that will be not only unpleasant but at times physically bloody.... This decade will not be for the faint of heart, but the resolute. Institutions will be plunged into wrenching change. We will be living through one of the most tumultuous periods of human history. When it is over, I am convinced God's people will emerge victorious."

He calls for bloodshed. He calls for violence. I'm sorry, but if it was a Muslim person calling for this same activity, he'd probably be arrested.

You say that WARNING people that they may be physically assaulted is calling for bloodshed? Wow, you're more disturbed than him!

So if anyone says "People will confront you, people may assault you, there may be bloodshed, but try to hold your ground" it's the same as instructing someone to attack? I think not. You wouldn't think so either, if it were a gay-day organizer saying it rather than a preacher. Your own hatred is showing.

Sorry, but I'm not going to waste my time reading someone's garbage about someone elses garbage. Did you actually think I'd bother to read lies about a person I don't actually care about in the first place?

And now I can hear you "If you don't care about him, why are you defending him", to which I would of course reply that I'm defending the concept of bilateral tolerance, not any certain individual.

I don't think he's saying it as Christians should defend themselves, I read it as a call to action, to use violence when necessary to get what they want.

There have been some Christian fundamentalists who have killed abortion doctors in the name of God. Some do think that violence is the proper course of action. Of course not all, and most not, but it isn't out of line.

These are the same Christian fundamentalists who said that violence against judges (such as the one female judge who had her husband and mother murdered and the one judge who was shot by that crazy rapist in Georgia) is deserved in many cases, because what the judges say is in contradiction with their core ideology.

It is not hatred that is showing. It is worry. I am worried how much power these people are gaining. I am worried because if they had their way, I would have no rights just for not believing the same crap that they do. I feel I am right to be worried, because they wish to scrap the constitution completely and turn this country into a theocratic state where everyone is forced to live by their will. That's what they want.

You already wasted your time reading it, and wasted more time responding to it. You got the "lies" straight from the horses mouth on this one.

Intolerance should be taught against idiots like these, if anything.

And that's coming from me, who preaches tolerance all day.

Just to level the ground a bit, if there are any crazy liberals thinking that way, point me to them. I wanna blast them.

No one in their sane mind should even think against such truth.

I have some seriously liberal friends, but they are firm believers of monogamy, and trust.

Of course you saw it as a call to bloodshed, simply because HE said it. Had a gay-rights activist said "There may be confrontations, there may be bloodshed, stand your ground" you'd say "Oh, hey, he's telling people to be brave in the face of confrontation".

When the students at Tienamen Square stood their ground, some people thought it was stupid, others thought it was a great thing. But when some preacher tells his followers to stand their ground, you view it as a call to arms. Because that's how your viewpoint is slanted.

He's not telling anyone to defend themselves physically, he's telling them to defend their faith ideologically, a call for political action which he feels will cause a backlash. And he's telling people to stand up and accept the backlash, to expect the backlash, to stay strong even in the face of violence against them.

Now, there are some fundamentalist that go against the faith and kill people. Anyone following the Old Testement penalties can't even claim to be Christian, simply because those weren't the teachings of Christ.

People who kill should die. But the problem is, nobody is perfect enough to carry out the penalty. So a Christian cannot support Abortion NOR the Capital Punishment. That means that most of Robertson's followers are violating their own proclaimed faith, in their own words, they're all going to hell, because they're all going to be judged by the same measure they judged others.

In order to be tolerant, you have to tolerate intolerant people. That doesn't mean you're supposed to listen to them, just put up with them. You can't justify deception to discredit someone you don't agree with.

It very well may be that he is saying what you think. I don't think so because he is talking about "winning back what has been taken away" from Christians, which sort of means to me engaging others into those possibly bloody confrontations.

Regardless, this man is crazy. Read his quotes. He is filled with hatred and intolerance. He is a corrupt bigot who probably wishes he were made king of this country. He doesn't care about freedom or democracy, he cares only about himself.

The only reason he is not lambasted publically is because the Democrats don't want to piss of the Christian Right any more than they already do, and the Republicans like him because he turns out votes. I'm sure his type played a large role in rallying the Christian Right against gay marriage in the 2004 election.

I don't have to put up with racists either.

I have no respect towards such humans like Robertson. Sure, he is allowed to speak, but if I had it my way, extremists like him would be wiped off the face of the Earth before anyone else.

But you're right about the real meaning of being tolerant, I admit.

Actually there are much much higher chances of his followers being violent than there are gay rights activists. I've yet to see one gay doing anything violent in the news, of course I could be wrong.
But it's been a fact, those religious extremists ignore the very core of their teachings on being peaceful, in order to attack, if not kill those who are not like them. And I claim this with much certainty, that such kinds of people WOULD promote violence. That's why I feel what he said should be taken more seriously than just an expression "to stand their ground".

It's easy to understand, legal/political fights to win back such old fashioned notions as having winter break named after the holiday it centers on, having nativity sceens in the public square, the ten commandments posted in the courthouse, decency standards in school, etc. Such efforts are bound to cause controversy, protests, and may even incite physical violence towards the activist by opposing activist.

I'm certain my parents wouldn't do anything stupid to put their actions in jeapardy, such as physical violence. I'm certain nobody in their church would either. In fact, I've never been to any church, anywhere, that promoted violence. I've heard stories, but obviously the groups in those stories are atypical.
