well, i've just downloaded C&C renegade off a warez site, took about 20 mins to install, unzip... decompress.... decode..... when i actually got to play it, man the thing needs like a freakin GF4 to pull some decednt fps out of it.
i have my xp1.6+ +Radeon 8500 retail and the game res are set to 800x600x16 on max detail, still skips quite badly. so i set eveything to low and that didn't help either. one other thing, i can't choose between GL and Drx and i can't put on mouse filter.
so is it just the game that has a crappy engine or is it just the fact that it's a cracked copy? does anyone here who've bought the real copy have the same problem? let me know thanx.
hehehehehe..... i know i should support the developers, but considering all the bad reviews that i've read about this game, it's just not worth buying the real copy. i will however go and purchase SOF2 and GTA3 when they are out.
I played the demo and I thought it ran alright (if you don't count the crappy graphics and gameplay). Don't remember what settings I used though. Probably the minimums.
I like the game but the quality can't touch MOHAA. The only problem I have seen with
it is when goes back to the CD for the story line it get choppy. Have you had that problem.

I had no choppiness at all in MoH. I was extremely pleased with that game. Have you tried it in both of your cdroms?
Have you heard of Daemon Tools? I use it exclusively now. It creates an emulated cdrom on your hdd so you can mount your cd images in it and play like normal. So that way it frees up your cdrom and decreases load and seek times. You might want to give it a try and see what happens.
hummmmmmmm.... looks like the problems are coming from the fact that it is a cracked version, maybe there are some mechnism provending it from running properly? The ones that are used in operation flash point??, where the game will degrade in quality over a period of time till the point it is unplayable.. if u are running the game using a copied cd.
Apart from the fact that this game sucks (specially in the AI department), it's working great for me at 800x600x32 with 2xAA and a P3 733/BX/256 MB SDRAM/GF2 MX400 (overclocked to 200/200).
hummmm.... sounds like i need 2 fine tune my system. at the moment i'm suspecting that i set my agp aprture size abit 2 high..i will lower it 2 see how it goes
Okay, i gotta say somethin...I love this game. I think its the best multiplayer action game out there. I play it all the time with my friends and its a blast, and none of us seem to have trouble running it smoothly. Not even the guy on 1ghz with a GeForce 3 1st edition. I'm quite happy with the graphics, no they dont do bump mapping etc...but the textures are sharp and colorful. The sounds and gameplay are right out of Tiberian Dawn (C&C origional). I love this game, its EXACTLY What it was advertised to be.
Sorry you guys dont like it but that doesnt mean it sucks, its just your opinion. I happen to abhor the whole Quake and Doom series, but you guys prolly love it. To each his own.
And, be warned, i wear fire proof clothing.

ye i would also say that the multiplayer part of the games is good, it's different. but the single player mission is just not up 2 the standard, mainly because of the poor AI but also because u cant play as NOD, every one of us would wants 2 be the bad guys every once in a while u know.
I dont. I cant. I am one with the light side, my conscience bothers me really bad if I play the bad side. I can see the nod point though for others. I would like to say that even single player....extremely C&C like, the AI in Tiberian Dawn was right about the same as Renegade=) I think thats what they were aiming for. Not a realistic shooter, but a first person simulation of the C&C Commando missions.
