Head to Head/Tag Team Play

I know gameplay and rules are obviously the most important part of a
pinball, but what about competition play? I know Stern has TOPS, but
that doesn't do it for me. What I think might work if there were
beefed up rules and incentive for two people to play head to head or
even as teams, or tag teams or some concept like that. Think about it,
most of the top earning bar games as of late have thrived on head to
head play (Golden T, Silver Strike, Big Buck come to mind). Now I
think Stern has been making some really neat games as of late, maybe
something like the head to head rules would push it over the top and
help earnings?

Pinball is tough for this since it's essentially Man vs. Machine.
Start to monkey with that too much, and you get regular players not
wanting to play the machine at all. I like bonus ball for top player
of XX seconds earned during the game. (Like BK, JL, etc.)

One word:

JOUST!!!

The BEST head-to-head pinball challenge there is.

I doubt anything like rules changes or stuff to promote competition
would increse earnings beyond TOPs' enticement for cash prizes.

NBFB is a better game linked than by itself. I still think it could
work in a sport bar environment. Not many have played it this way but
the Texas Pinball Festival has had it the last two years and may have
it this year. Don
