Shopping out a Jurassic Park machine, and found that the cabinet
speaker is totally shot.

The speaker is an odd size (7" to edge of speaker, or 7 1/2" spacing
for the mounting holes). Any idea where a replacement is available?
Not looking for premium sound, just a viable replacement.

Was this size standard on all DE machines? Seems like every other
machine uses the 6" speaker. If anyone is parting a DE machine and
has the 7" cabinet speaker available, please let me know!

Thanks,
Randy

I'll check when I get home, but as I recall, it's a 6.5" speaker in the
cabinet. I replaced the backbox speakers as well as the cabinet
speaker with similar sized car speakers (subwoofer in the cabinet). I
added a subwoofer choke, and a couple of rheostats for the backbox
speakers (2 needed because there is actual stereo sound for the backbox
in JP). The sound is now very good, for not much money.

Check Korn's or Wolfy's sites for details on what all the above means.
Remember also that unless you are going to Kornify your machine, even
cheap components will sound incredibly better than what is in there
now!

....In summary, I think a 6.5" speaker will work in the cabinet ;)

The measurements I listed were from direct measurement of the speaker I
pulled out of the game. I also happen to have a 2nd JP machne, and
checked as well and it also has the larger (7" ) speaker.

I have a spare 6" speaker from a WMS game, and it will definitely not
fit the existing hole and mounting screws.

Cheers,
Randy

Oops...

The 6.5" was the speaker I bought originally to replace the cabinet
speaker, that didn't fit :\

What I finally bought as a replacement was a Legacy LWF8X car subwoofer
speaker, like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-LEGACY-LWF [...] dZViewItem

_THIS_ was an exact screw hole replacement for the original speaker. I
didn't have to do anything other than unscrew the old one, and replace
it with this one. It is an 8" speaker, by the way, and I believe ANY
8" speaker would work.

If you'd prefer a stock speaker, I think I still have my old one
rattling around here somewhere. E-mail me at gerrymanis _at_ gmail
_dot_ com, and we can figure out how to get it to you.
