RGP -
I've been asked to make the merlin assembly weldment. I will be
remaking this in stainless steel (Mostly for strength and looks) Who wants
in ?? Price will probably be $ 50 - $ 60.00 depending on engineering costs.

I'm looking for interest !

That was one heck of a game, certainly the big one of the night on any
of the machines! I didn't think you were ever going to stop playing
the last ball. I suspect your initials will be on that machine for a
very long time.

You might want to look into a redesign which doesn't pop the ball out
to the right. I am working on an add-on which does the same thing right
now.

actually Tom, if the bracket is not warped or bent, you can do dead nut
shots into the merlin hole with very few bounce outs. I repaired mine when
I installed the CC'd playfield and it's just now after 100's of plays
starting to bounce out toward the pops a little more.
A stainless steel bracket won't deform as easily so should be a good enough
fix.

The original is made of .070 steel zinc plated black . . . I can bend it
with my fingers. 0.60 stainless is twice as strong even thinner. It should
solve the problem easily !

The way I see it, the scoop is half width to allow the ball to be
ejected by the vertical popper. This creates an edge which catches the
ball and sends it to the right. This cannot be solved by making the
part out of a stronger metal. There needs to be a tab added to the
right side which does not scoop so the ball can be ejected, yet enough
to eliminate the edge which causes the deflection.

Just my 2 cents.

Actually I think the metal gives enough that instead of deflecting straight
into the hole it gets a little right movement. As the metal bends and
fatigues over time this gets worse. A stronger metal will keep the
deflection straight into the hole. But this is why I test me little
inventions :) to make sure they actually do what they're designed to. If I
need to modify then I will :)

Yep, me too.

Ever thought about a Moat kickout scoop which pivots/adjusts to stop SDT(F)M
drains. Slacking off the coil, etc helps but I'm sure you could engineer a
better solution.
