INFO needed: Pin collectors from Canada ( SSNs )

Hello Canada Pin Collectors,

I'm buying a game from a guy in Canada & they are saying they need my
SSN to get the game shipped through Forward-Air ??.

Can anyone from Canada tell me if this is true or not ?.
I'd love to buy that game but not if I'm going to have to give my SSN
out to a stranger,,, Can anyone tell me what the scoop is on this ?

I can understand the Customs thing, But them asking me for my
SSN WILL KILL that E-Bay sell,,, I'd hate to get a Neg for not buying
the game & If I have to give that info out then I'll pass on the
game,,, If you'd like to see the letter I got from a shipping Broker
for the seller ,,LMK & I'll send it to you ,,, Thanks !

I've used forward air many times and never been asked to give that info
for my buyers. They do ask for a valid phone number though. Maybe this is
a customs thing, but I can't imagine that is the case as it wouldn't only be
good in the US and I doubt highly the US Customers dept. would ask for a SSN
considering how the Gov. tells us not to give it out. lol ya right.

Be leery, call Forward Air.

Contact US Customs. Ask them if they do require your SSN and ask if you can
provide it directly to them rather than through the broker. Also ask if they
have record of said broker.

I live in Canada and yeah some shippers will ask for this if the sender does
not have a business account with them. Its for the IRS/Customs information.
I think they will also take a business tax number.

If it were me I'd either send it down without this info or turf the deal, no
way in hell would I give up my SSN, even if the seller was legit.

OK, I had my Wife call US Customs & They are Faxing the forms that will
be needed,, I do HAVE TO give US Customs my SSN to complete the deal,,
that said,,, I wonder why the guy is using a "Broker" to do his
shipping,,Forward-Air doesnt ask for this info
so why should a Broker ??

It's a bonded customs broker - if you don't have one you can't
import/export stuff via shipping. Broker probably needs it to prove or
to at least have a starting point of a trail if someone needs to trace
this shipment.

You COULD pay me to go get that Fish Tales game, it's only 8 hours away
from me, and everybody knows that's just a short drive. When you'd end
up getting it delivered to SC could be another issue though. I might
need to play it in MY shop for a few weeks first to make sure it was
worthy of you. =)
