My wife and I just got us a Tungsten E each, and I'm looking for
hotsync options.
Here's the layout:
- We have a PC each, networked, at both home and our shop.
- The home & shop PCs have different IPs in case I have to bring one
home to work on it. I want to keep it this way.
- Both networks are behind firewalls which get their IPs dynamically
from our ISPs.
I would like for us to be able to have one of our two hotsync cables
at each location, probably plugged into my PC at each, and network
hotsync to our own local PC; i.e. I would plug in at work and hotsync
to my work PC, and plug in at home and hotsync to my home PC.
I have our palms set to have our home PCs as their primary for network
hotsync, and when I try to netsync at the shop I get the prompt
telling me it can't be found and asking if I want to sync locally.
What I wish is that it let me also specify a secondary PC for hotsync,
to use if the primary isn't found.
Any hidden features here I should know about?
Who do I write to to request multiple primaries as a feature wish for
network hotsyncing?

You will have to establish a "common network" for the machines that
are to support network Hotsync.
Have you tried to set up a virtual private network between the two
locations?

Nope. I don't know how we'd do that without fixed external IPs on the
gateways. I know I'm not paying for fixed IPs just to save a click
when hotsyncing.
All in all I guess popping for a couple more hotsync/charger cables is
the way to go.
