Hi guys as Intel said (to The Register) it is going to bring Pentium 4 2Ghz in January (3 months earlier than planned), but I am not sure about RDRam . Still DDR support only in Q2 2001. Anyway I guess AMD should also go further. Here is source to get more info.
I will stay with my Athlon T-bird 1ghz vs the P4. Over the long run a lower speed Athlon will be faster than a higher speed P4. I think AMD finally got it's break it needs. RAMBUS is old news and DDR doesn't look that hot. We'll see the bentchmarks when DDR motherboards are available.
Yes go ahead and pay $5000 for your 2GHz system and I'll stick with my $2000 system that performs 70% as well as your dream system.
Smart guys are not smart; they only see things in different perspective.

Do ANY of you believe an Intel Rep would say this:
"Expect to see P4 much earlier than on the roadmap - we're aggressively going for AMD's balls on the speed front. DirectX 8 is ready and lots of apps and games have been optimised, many more than for the PIII launch, which was a real cockup."
Hehe. Sure. Intel is sucks. AMD is going to be my choice. Hehe (my smile for Intel is dead smile ). I am totally agree with you guys AMD - #1 choice these days.
Thanks for changing me from wrong way.

Look at it this way. Even if Intel does get a big boost and reclaims the speed lead tghis isn't a problem for AMD. Due to the producing capabilities of Intel they can produce more processors than AMD ever could. This isn't bad though. From the little I've seen AMD has really been working to enhance and improve the Athlon. If they can still release higher speeds, and slowly up the fsb, they will always have a slight edge over the P4. All they need to do is not nose dive till the next generation of Athlons are out.

Here is my thought: Why do we have 150MHz memory (obviously that is for overclockers) but we don't have 150MHz FSB chips? You'd think the easiest way to make a faster chip that has more headroom for advancement is just up the fsb.
- Anything can be fixed with duct tape, a swiss army knife, and WD-40.
It does not work that way. It would not matter whether you increased the frequency by rasing the FSB or the multiplier.
It would be no less difficult for AMD to release a 1500Mhz processor with a 150FSB and a clock rate of 10 as it would be for one with a 100Mhz FSD and a clock rate of 15;
im hoping the point of this was to parody the current debates going on about AMD VS intel and show that in 6 years time it will be the same but with different products

The year 2k.......wow that was a great year. Such an innocent time and quite a bit more piece of a$$ then I am currently getting. Thus me sitting in front of a monitor on a friday. Screw you for reminding me...........
