if you are running dual processors, you will have to use NT software instead of millenium. If you play games, etc this could be a real issue. Just some thoughts.
Tbird all the way. Come on, a cel at the same speed grade has trouble keeping up with a DURON ( no correct that, can't keep up at all) don't even wonder what a tbird 700 could do... Better yet, you still have some room to upgrde with processors up to 1.2ghz with a KT133 board and over that if you wait a little for the KT133A ( 133 fsb anyone?).
And btw I think you'd be better off getting a 800 mhz duron than a tbird 700...
My two cents.
And need I also remind you that you never get 100% more power when using a dual proc PC? It hovers around 40% if my memory is right and is nearly non-existent in games (yes, even in Q3 under win2k) so do not botter with buying a dual proc PC if you don't put PIII 933 or something like that in it!
Edited by Seoman on 11/15/00 02:19 PM.

Even if you are running an os that supports dual processors, the application itself also has to support it. If it does not, then the application will only take advantage of one processor. Go with the Athlon.
You're right if you're talking raw cpu power but nothing can beet the "dual feeling". I mean that the system is more responsive when it's got 2 cpu's. For example : I work at the design department at Ericsson, I constantly have at minimun 10 applications running at the same time and I can asure you that if you do this on a single cpu system it will be not as fast as on a dual system (even if the single cpu is TWICE as fast as the dual cpu's).
Most people forget that for example HDD access or cdrom access or any other peripheral access takes a certain amount of cpu time. With a dual setup you can have 1 cpu that's busy with I/O acces and 1 that's busy with your application... Nothing can beat the "dual" feeling
Believe me, I speak from my own experiences. (By the way, here at Ericsson we have a few 4-Way servers and they ROCK!!!)
