PIII specs ???

I've decided on a 866MHz PIII, (not AMD coz it means a new mainboard, so please don't get into the debate here). At the moment, i have an ABIT BE6-II and from what i can see, a bios update will allow the board to run the cpu at 133Mhz FSB and not 100Mhz FSB. Is this correct? Also, as the BE6-II is slot one, will i need an adaptor (like i've got for my celeron, which is what i've got now)?
Also, i'm planning to get PC133 ram. Will the BE6-II support the PC133 ram?
The reason i'm asking, is coz i've not paid much attention to the fine specs of cpu's lately (just the intel amd war) and am trying to catch up.
Any help is appreciated.

That board uses the BX chipset if I recall which doesn't officially support 133 fsb. You want to update the bios to what ever the latest is, but you will still need to overclock it to 133, which it should do fine. It will support 133 memory because it will be running at 133.

I have used BX6-r2 boards like you want to do and they ran fine. You could also try to find celeron processors and overclock them. The 2 BX boards I have are running 1.1celerons at 1.45G. Not bad for boards that are 9 years old.

I was able to run D3 on one of these machines. It wasn't at high res or high details, but it ran it.

ADDED: Of course, since this 5 year old thread was bumped for whatever reason, this is all moot.

What is your point? You revived a thread that was made in 2000 just to say that? Don't get on your high horse about AMD fanboys existing back then, Intel fanboys existed too, and quite frankly I am sick of both AMD and Intel fanboys. Everybody needs to give it a rest.
