I initially had the hd on ide1, but switched it to one of the onboard raid channels. In the boot sequence, when it tried to enable swap file it failed. So I switched it back to ide1, but now it fails every time. It's important that I get it to work, since i only have 128mb of ram. Haven't found a solution in any linux "Bibles" that I've read. Please help! I'm running Redhat 8.0

I'd just pop in the install disk and reformat the swap partition. Should work.

Yeah, format it.

And make sure it's mounted in your fstab.

If it ain't workin' then, then there is another problem altogether.

The command to format it is mkswap, and swapon to enable it. It should be auto enabled at boto time through the entry in /etc/fstab.
