Hi,

Im sure this question is very basic and somewhat dumb but what is the difference between SECC2 and FCPGA when buying a processor?? Are there any benefits of one over the other?? I know I currently have an SECC2 processor, I have a PIII 600eb, an ASUS P3V4X motherboard, 256M of PC-133, and a Maxtor 7200 rpm, ultra 66 disk.

Does anyone have any advice/info?

Thanks

Mark

As far as i know secc2 is a slot connector and a fcpga is a socket.. the secc2 pentium III has 512K Off dye cache and so it runs at 1/2 the core clock.. a fcpga processor has 256K cache on the processor dye so it runs syncronous to the processor clock. 1/2 the cache but its full speed so it actually performs better.. fcpga is the only way to go at this point..

Thank you, that does help, especially when weighing my options, costs, and choosing a mother board.
