Zone multiplayer games not installing

Last response: in Video Games

I have a problem installing Zone multiplayer games namely Backgammon and
Checkers.

I click install and and the Active X tries to install but fails. The box
that should show up if problems occur becomes an [x]. No errors are given but
it loads a page with the line "whoops".

I have patched my registry according to
http://www3.sympatico.ca/nibblesnbits/EnterRooms.html. Also, I have deleted
all corrupted/broken files. I have removed Zone completely. As well, I have
disabled my firewalls and the pop up blockers. However, I am still getting
the same problem. I currently am running Windows XP Second Edition and I
haven't gotten Zone to work since I had 98.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Is the version of Xp yr running an update on top of the 98?

I did install it over 98 if that's what your asking, it's not an update though.

Ive come across a few instances like this where the xp installation fails to
grant full administrator privelages to the imported 98 user.. try this..
Open control panel - user accounts then create a brand new *computer
administrator* account for yourself.. Log on to this account, sign in to
zone and then try installing the zone software.

This might sound like a silly question and I am not trying to insult your
intelligence...but are you using Internet Explorer to view and install the
zone.com software?
I say this because I had a friend who had the exact same problem but he was
using Mozilla FireFox and needless to say after I pointed that out, he
switched to IE and the problem was fixed.
Just my 2 cents :) .
