I have a slot1 LX based motherboard that has a maximum multiplier of 6.5. I know that the multipliers on Intel's CPU's are locked. Does this mean that I could put a 466 celeron on my board even thought my max multiplier (6.5*66) gives me only 433?

Depends on the motherboard. If the bios you have has the microcode for the new cpu, the multiplier on the cpu will overide the board's multiplier settings. Thus, if you plug in a 533 ppga celeron, the cpu will set the multiplier to run as a 533 celeron.

I'm testing to see if a celeron 2 will work on an lx chipset. Stay tuned for details.

I have an early LX board that was originally a 233mhz that I put a PowerLeap slotket in with a 500mhz celeron and have had no problems. Up-dated to the P.18 (Phoenix) bios. Run FSB software and if I don't run too long can get 612mhz or 592mhz continuous. USE the thermal paste!!!

A bios update could help (depending on your mobo)
