as picking up you mean its not reading. You can try cleaning (dirt on laser try blowing it out)it if that doesnt help then its probably dead(it happens). If its under warranty get it fixed if not buy a new drive.
if you do have to replace and not use warranty I know older toshibas you had to buy from them or from the list of supported drives or it would not read. The way around it was to open drive and solder 2 pins together and it will then read any drive I dont know if its the same with the newer toshibas.
