Taking into consideration that P4 is good only in Q3 Arena maybe it should be called Q4:))
Intel should give everybody a free T-Bird for every P4 sold. That would dramatically increase the sales and will definitively make P4 popular.

No, no, no...don't you read the posts...P4 is awesome...way better than the Athlon...all you have to do is hop into your time machine and go buy some software optimized for it a year in the future...

The P4 would only be faster than the Athlon if you fired it out of a cannon...and what's all this "once software is optimized for it, it will be awesome" you really think you'll be using a processor you buy now to run cutting edge apps A YEAR FROM NOW???

Intel used to kill AMD, right now AMD is ahead, but excuses from rabid Intel fans don't make the P4 faster than the Athlon...

Great post man, you got me laughing hard with your excellent comments.

Maybe it should be called "Pee" four....

I agree....
if the P4 is going to kick butt when the software is optimised for it wait until then before you call it a great chip ......
I will not buy a CPU for 3 times the price for less performance on the off chance everyone designs software for it....

Rant over...

Too right - a gig of RAM costs less than a PIV

Actually I was very impressed that intel could produce a cpu at all anymore. I mean actually, physcially deliver a real product rather than just another paper release like their other recent AMD Killers...
Besides, the new pee4 kicks butt and beats the Thunderbird in all tests....I can prove it too, just let me re-count those votes one more time.....
:-)

have fun

Yep, and it'll only be able to beat Athlon if they include the heatsink, pull Big Bertha (warning: obscure reference) out of retirement and aim it at the Athlons fabs :p

If you're siding with core, then presumably you are pro high energy requirements ie mutt off coolers etc - Arm will triumph in the end, metalmouth ! ;-)

You think maybe the Intel weenies will take this debate to the court of appeals ?

Intel appears to be the laughing stock at the moment. I checked out their website today and there's so much crap about how good it is.

There's loads of quotes from people having used the P4..

"The Pentium 4 brings gaming to a new level. GAME ON"

"The Pentium 4 definitely helps me in training for any competition... It's a huge advantage... When I got it and ran it, I was in awe of its speed. It just blows my mind."

"The Pentium 4 Processor is actually much more than I ever expected it could be... It allows me to keep a rhythm going while I'm editing so I don't have to stop and wait for things to render. I can keep working. I can see the output immediately... A lot of people have been frustrated up to now trying to do editing on their home computers. The Pentium 4 Processor will really change all that."

If these guys are so astounded by the performance of the temporary steppingstone Rambus inflicted P4 then just imagine how they would react to the performance of a Thunderbird!

So Mr Intel spokesman how does the P4 bring "gaming to a new level?"

Yes you guessed it...Quake III runs better..

You said BIG BERTHA- does that thing still exist? I've only seen pictures.

P4 "ONCE SOFTWARE IS OPTIMIZED FOR IT, it will be awesome"

duhhh, IF you optimize a software to utilize the maximun potential for a hardware, ofcourse it will be faster. IF you optimize software for AMD, than AMD will be faster, you optimize for P4 than P4 will be faster and if you optimize for a G4 than it will kick ass big time(that why apple G4 really woop some ass, just wait till apple move to multi-processor<-- and all the software developer will have to optimize it, cause apple is the sole provider<i like to call it, monopoly over a small market> ) vis-versa, IDIOT P4 loser fans.

so let say, by next year most of the people is getting an AMD because it's considerably cheaper and kick ass too. so why would any software programers want to optimize their product to run on SOMETHING that is not vastly use in the market.

but of course INTEL, will still most likely be getting SOME of the market(like today, most of the high end system are ATHLON rather than Intel, something like AMD hold 40% of highend workstation, intel no where in sight). but THIS TIME i don't think Intel can cheat consumer on P4 High clock speed/Low performance processor. if all the review comming up giving thumbs down, SO sad.... not really. =)

the sad thing is that intel will trow money at the marketing and sucker endless amounts of peeps who don't know the first thing about computers let alone CPU types...
I mean in the UK we had a load of adverts saying buy a P3 and get the most out of the internet....
excuse me but last time I checked you could use most things on the web with a 486.......

Actually, I was most impressed with Intel's not-so-paper release this time. I'm not impressed with the processor, mind you, but the fact there was silicon instead of paper.

We are used to Intel looking good on paper, just like RDRAM. They too look better on paper than on silicon.
