Need some help deciding.

I’m looking for a new laptop to work with Sketchup and vray, and I have 3 options, should I get the Qosmio 4gb ram and Gtx 460M DDR5, or the 8gb ram and GT 330M? and should I get the 18,4” or the 16” screen? the price difference between 16" and both 18.4" is 100 USD

Thanks for any suggestion.

Hey Dan1619889

did you get the computer? I'm in the same boat using Sketchup with Vray, Photoshop, AutoCad, Revit, ect. Do you notice a big difference using sketchup?

Hi Clamastus, I did a long search and find an Asus G73jw-xt1 1499 USD the same price of the Qosmio but with 8GB ram, Gtx 460m, 17.3" inch screen Full HD (just 1" less and FHD), Blu ray, core I7 740QM.

I chose the Asus because it has a better cooling system, and as you know V-ray uses the 100% of the PC so it will get Really Hot, and I have read many problems of the Qosmio's cooling system and I didn´t want to lose 1500 bucks!

I already order it, and I will get it in two more weeks, when i try it I'll tell you how good it is!

hey Dan1619889

i'm thinking of buying the same laptop, for the same purposes, do you have it yet? how is it working with the software? i'm worried about incompatibility with the video card & the 3d soft? i read that supposedly you need the quadro series cards instead of the gtx series.

i agree with you the reason i'm picking that laptop i because i saw very good reviews of the cooling system..........

Hi icarito, I finally got it, I've installed AutoCAd 2011, Sketchup 8, Vray 1.48.83, and they are great, I just loaded an .skp archive that was slow in my core2duo and ati sapphire x300se desktop, and it runs awsome, I haven't render it yet because of time, but this weekend i'll do it.... the .skp file is a big house with plants, wood windows, livingroom, bathroom, kitchen, dinnigroom and lots of warehouse componets and textures and the modeling and moving around is really fast...!
I also see an improvement in autocad, it handles big city maps with no problem, in my desktop trying to copy a full city map was kind of slow, now it is fast! the screen is awsome, and is so quiet I think is a great machine....!
