i posted this on the mobo/ section but wanted to post here also, currently have p11 400 be6 440 196 ram
i want to get a p111 800 , can it be coppermine or must it be PRE-Coppermine cpu
and what exactly is "coppermine" ??

the coppermine core is the newer core which was made with the .18 micron design technology. This means that the die size was smaller and therefore the L1 / L2 cache could be integrated into the core instead of externally on the slot card. This makes it significantly faster. I believe that any P3 over 600MHz uses the coppermine core. The problem with this is that the coppermine uses a lower core voltage (~1.65V) instead of the 2+V of the previous core (Katmai). You have to make sure your mobo will support the coppermine. I ran into this problem getting my bro a P3 for his older Asus P2B board. Check your mobo manufacturer's website for details.

problem solved you can get a slocket slot to socket
converter that has all the volatage regulators so that the copermine will work. the fsb of the cpu has to be 100Mhz of course
