The walls in BUGCAV are undiggable. Although you can dig in the walls few
squares, you can't dig through to the main corridor. This should probably
get mentioned to avoid a player trying to be clever and dig straight to
them.

I was also surprised to find out that, according to the monsterdex, killer
bugs CANNOT break down doors. However, I don't have a wand of door
creation available at the moment to confirm this.

I think the case is that the left side of the level is diggable, but the
right side is not, but I could be wrong here.

Nope... I tried digging on the left side too. You can dig in various
places, but you can never get anywhere useful as a result of digging.

Most of the level is diggable, but there are undiggable walls blocking
most of the useful digging routes. I used AdomBot to make a picture of
the level showing exactly which walls are diggable:

The red walls are undiggable, the little yellow line shows about the
only useful digging route, and the light gray walls are secret doors.

Without having tested it in practise a wand of destruction
might work as only a single row of walls block you from
direct digging access.

I have drawn a map as I see it done. The cut off part in
the left hand side is completely untouched and removed to
avoid weird wrapping. Hope the map is readable despite the
lack of coloration.

You eliminate the antechamber and block with doors as a
basic safety precaution and then dig in to the o where you
zap the wand. Then you place another safety door and dig
on into the left side treasures. These should be safe. I
am not sure, but I think you can claim the southern statue
and only activate the southernmost bugs in the big room.
These should be relatively easy to dispatch before a dig
into the right side treasures. Being DL 12 a wand of
destruction is occationally found. This could be a good
place to use it. If it works....
