First of all let me commend you on a most informative an entertaining hardware review web site. I can honestly say that there is never a day which I don’t check up on you to see what new article you’ve written.
Anyway I felt a need to express my feelings on your recent articles about the new Pentium 4.
I loved your blunt honesty in the article “Important Pentium 4 Evaluation Update”. Some might describe it as bordering on the very bitchy but this is what I like about your style of writing, you put your feelings into your reviews rather than being formal and boring like so many other hardware critics.
I understand that your following articles on the pent 4 were written to give a more fair evaluation of the new processor. However I feel that in the end the first of the three still sums the situation of the Pentium 4 the best.
Could I make an example of the current situation with operating systems. Windows 2000 is clearly a far superior operating system to win95, 98 or Windows-Me yet is not recommended as an upgrade alternative to the latter simply because a there are still a lot of programs that will not run in its environment.
Intel is trying to sell the Pentium 4 as a superior solution to all current processors on the market. Yet it seems it is not designed to run current software to its premium, therefore I feel it cannot be classed as such.
Remember Intel is the company that tried to crush its rivals with slot 1 putting an unfair patent on it to push all other opponents out.
Good on AMD for taking the noble approach and simply producing a technologically superior product at a fairer price.
