Be aware, however, that your PC may also be hit by falling rocks; cast
this spell when you have, for safety's sake, at least 20 hit points.
Earthquake can be a good way to generate a lot of rocks (if you're into
throwing/slinging them). Actually, one casting on one level will
generate more rocks than you can ever hope to carry, ever, even with
Strength of Atlas (probably).
Earthquake debris displaces water.
The spell can be useful for wasting a lot of PP. Regenerating your PP
will strengthen your connections to the immaterial planes.
The debris can, and probably will, cover the stairs. This is good if you
like to waste time playing stairway-hide-and-go-seek.
Also, by destroying the layout of the level, it eliminates rooms and
corridors, leaving you essentially with a very open-concept cavernous
level... lovely if a dark elven priestess shows up. OK, I don't want to
mislead you; that wouldn't be lovely at all. Especially if you're stuck
looking for the stairs at the same time.
Earthquake is an expensive spell with very limited usefulness. Don't go
practising it willy-nilly, especially since, if memory serves me
correctly, it doesn't work in the ID. Well, actually, you can cast it
and use up the PP, it just won't do anything to the level.
