Is there a way to turn off or close the chat window box of a room? And is
there a way to close the window showing all players in a room?

Yes and No

Yes - To turn off all chat click the green check mark icon on the bottom
left of yr window and check the box marked "Turn off all chat"

No - there is no way to remove from view the list of players in a particular
room.
