  1. Go with the HD 5870 - you get the better results in pretty much all the synthetic benchmarks, games included as well.

    Oops....my bad....picked this thread off the home page and didn't notice it was in laptops section.....the thing here is that the cost of the mobile chips have been wide apart. Most peeps don't buy a laptop strictly for gaming so it comes down to what else ya gonna do w/ it. For photo / video / CAD work, I'd go with the nVidia .... for pure gaming, I'd go w/ what's one is cheaper.

    You got the wrong category of cards here, Jack. We are talking mobile graphics cards not desktop. In the mobile world the GTX 460M and the Mobility 5870 perform pretty close with the 5870 coming out slightly on top in games. I don't bother with synthetic benchmarks since they typically mean little when it comes to actual performance.
  5. on laptop your better off with the gtx 460 nvidia has better game drivers for desktop Ati 6850 is nice
