Emachine black screen

Hello,
We have an emachine 275, it was working fine, then all of a sudden the screen went black. The laptop will power up,and you can hear the fan run, but there is nothing on the screen. We have tried to hook-up an external monitor to the laptop and there still is nothing visible. Is this an easy fix or is it off tothe shop??

Well, either the on-board graphic card or the screen died on you. I sincerely hope that it´s the latter case.
You tried pressing Fn+F7 while booting? Your external video output might be disabled by default. If it does not help than the only option left is to change the mainboard.
