Indeed. Since wands of teleportation are life-savers, I'd always go
there as soon as I've got any of the following:
* Monk level 13 hidden class power
* a wand of digging and some booze/scrolls of charging
* a means of item detection or blessed magic mapping and
either teleport control or a pick axe
* a pick axe and a lot of money, or many pick axes
* a pick axe, a bit of money and good Mining skill
* teleport control and a lot of patience
Some other conditions also help (e.g. certain spells), but most commonly
you will get some of the above before those.
You *can* go there without any prerequites and simply teleport around
randomly with the traps until you stumble upon the wand, but that is far
too annoying.
