Hi guys,

I am looking to buy a laptop and willing to spend around $1700 CAN.
I develop desktop applications(on windows platform using .NET(winforms, WPF etc) so i will have to test them on windows7,vista, xp etc at the same time. I use VMWare to run multiple OS at the same time to test my stuff. So i am looking for at least 8 GB RAM and probably faster processor.

I am confused which laptop i should buy:|

1. Lenovo
System components
Intel® Core™ i7-740QM Processor ( )
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730
8 GB
15.6 "
500GB
DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)
Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 1000
Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR
One Year
Industry Standard Touchpad
6 Cell Lithium-Ion

2. HP Envy 17
• Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
• Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-740QM Quad Core processor (1.73GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 2.93GHz
• 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5850 Graphics [HDMI]
• 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
• 500GB 7200RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
• No Additional Office Software
• 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (standard) - Up to 2.25 hours of battery life +++
• 17.3" diagonal HD+ HP BrightView Infinity LED Display (1600 x 900)
• SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support (Slot Load)
• HP TrueVision HD Webcam
• Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth
• Backlit Keyboard
• Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) Elements 8 & Adobe Premiere(R) Elements 8

3 ASUS G73JW-XT1
Core i7 17.3" 1080p Notebook w/ Blu-ray for $1500 + $9 shipping = $1509 shipped. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed.

Intel Core i7-740QM 1.73GHz, 8GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, Blu-ray / DVDRW
17.3" 1920x1080 LED-backlit, Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M 1.5GB DDR5, USB 3.0

Out of the two, I'd suggest the Lenovo in terms of reliability. Long story short, HP's tend not to last that long.

@"buwish", I really appreciate your reply. Do you have any other notebook in your mind or Lenovo is the better choice?
Thanks again
