----------------------------------------------------------------------

She started w/ ?SoFS so she took the long route to the CoC to prevent
water damage. With confusion and true berserking she fought her way
to DT (about M:2000, Clvl 5) where she found Waldenbrooks stocked with
~14 PV in total armor. 13 arena fights gave her enough money to buy it
all. She took Thrundarr's holy symbol to the ID where she prayed for
holy slayers until the gods ignored her. She hung around ID:8-9
clearing tension rooms until she hit Clvl 10 (~M:10000). She bought of
the cloaked ratling and killed the crime boss and master thief.
Barnabas didn,t have anything worth stealing. She cleared the top level
of the graveyard, hit Clvl 11. She got precrowned with Wyrmlance which
she used for the remainder of the game.

She hung around the Big Room, picking morgia, until Clvl 13. She then
killed the NDC steel golem, went to the pyramid and hit Clvl 14 at the
top level where she got precrowned with ~BoW (~M:17000?)

She got the ankh, [AMW, [EG, got crowned N= with =RoIm and =Fire,
She went past the DH, did the OC and became the arena champion and got
a fireproof blanket and another ?SoFS. She raided DF got a wish ('AoLS)
and +Tele and +Invis. She destroyed the AKW with drakeling speed and
hack n' back and recovered the Fire Orb (~M:26000).

The small dwarf and Khelly gave her a total of 10 b?SoCR. She tore her
way down the CoC, stopping only to clear ogre or giant pits or vaults.
She sneaked past the undead in the CoC graveyard and dug to the stairs,
The snake was assasinated in the dark. She bypassed the EG by
distracting him with a diamond dolem summoned with her ?SoFS. The
Casino was ignored. She got a cats eye ring and assulted the AT by
digging out the top corner and meleeing.

She made a critical mistake above the ET that cost her many
(thousands?) of moves when she attempted an assult on a white dragon
vault, She thought she could keep the ancient dragons confused long
enough to wipe them out, but the bastards kept freezing her out of LOS.
Many turns were wasted getting out of and recovering from that mess.

She meleed the ET denizens on the stairs, ignored the BDC, and meleed
NV for the Mana Orb. She wasted alot of turns on D:50 recovering from
D:49 (she could have used a companion right away) where she got
Hammerhead (D:50 was undiggable so it really was useless). She was
meleeing the Greater Chaos Servants just fine, but was taking a
beating from the mutants. She used her final b?SoFS and got a Greater
Earth Elemental friend. Her GEE wasn't doing so hot either until she
switched tactics, kicking enemies while weilding 2 shields to distract
them. The enemies started targeting her leaving the GEE free to dish
out damage. She cleared both wings with kicking. Unfortunately the
balors were unfazed by her kicks, so she switched to missile weapons
to get their attention.

Since she didn't have and \WoDC or \WoMC or more ?SoFS, she scummed
the balors. After clearing the wings, she pulled the levers and moved
towards the left of the map to trigger them. When the PC moves past a
certain point on the map (~18 steps right of the gate/levers), a balor
from the center room will wake up, teleport to both of the levers. and
pull them open all in one turn. One by one they killed a balor, handled
the levers, triggered a balor, killed it, etc. up until Fisty himself
was awakened. She was able to get in a final shot with some demon
slaying ammo to finish him off, handle the levers, and walk off the
level. Her strategy saved many turns that would have been wasted trying
to assult the main room. Her efficient handling of D50 left her enough
b?SoCR to leave the chain corruption free.

Height: 5' Weight: 136 pounds
Age: 22 (young, 1 year of unnatural aging added in)
Star sign: Wolf Birthday: 8/Wolf (day 308 of the year)

YOUR HISTORY:
Your parents belong to the lower class. They were honest
hard-working people, who did everything to enable you to live a
comfortable and fine life. They were not very successful.
During your childhood one of your uncles taught you a lot of
things about the history of your people. Your vast knowledge on the
legends and the lore of your people made you very popular with your
friends because of all the exciting stories you knew.
As a youth you spent a lot of time in the wilds exploring woods

and generally enjoying your freedom. You had a lot of fun and learned
to value the treasures of nature.
Your young adulthood was characterized by hard and long work.
You had decided to study under a renowned master. To your great
disappointment you had to find out, that he was a hard, unjust and
tyrannic man, embittered by his old age. Your apprentice years were
quite terrible.
You decided to become a Mindcrafter.

I played this game to prepare for an eternium man mindcrafter, but
unfortunately, the gods refuse to restore a mindcrafters power points!
This scraps my plans so I'll have to switch to a spellcaster probably a
priest.

After the ToEF I really didn't use much mindcraft or missles, since
those are mostly wasted turns.

This game could have been alot faster, so I wouldn't be surprised to
see a drakeling barb or fighter crowned with Vanq to win in <20k moves.

To bad theres no more insane bonus for not saving, I'm definetly going
to break 100 mil next time!

Thanks for reading!

Anybody else notice anything odd here?

(Hint: it's not the word wrapping...)

Is this really what the game outputs, or did you transcribe it?

If this is true game output, does anyone know if it's in the bug
database yet?

You don't have to abuse the arithmetic overflow bug; you can just use
the (intentional) effect of the rivalry of the gods. By the time you
get to -2 billion piety with one diety you will have +65 million piety
with the others. Of course you do have to change alignment, but it's
enough to get crowned many times.

Why is the holy symbol needed (for either tactic)?

I beleive that gods will boost mana if your character knows any spells.
At any rate if your mindcrafter knew a spell she would be able to get
mana-refill from prayers I think.

How are you going to use that with Eternium though? You wouldn't
actually fill the SMC with slayers but you'd have enough that one would
likely panic and kill you before you could slaughter them in the dark.
Or has someone come up with a solution to that problem in the last
year?

Nice tactics with the eternal guardian and level 50.

True I could have saved some 400 turns that way...

>
> Why is the holy symbol needed (for either tactic)?

Because the holy symbol allows the PC to skip most of the negative
effects of prayer. Specifically, after removing and dropping all
equipment, the PC equips 1 gold piece in the missle slot and prays
until their god turns their equipment to dust. After praying twice
more, losing a gold piece each time, the PC re-equips and finds a
weak undead to [t]urn with the holy symbol. Every time the PC
successfully turns undead with the holy symbol (the undead "cowls in
terror") the PC's piety is depleted. I don't know the exact amount,
but I always turn (getting the "cowls" message) at least 20 times
before safely summoning with prayer. This tactic isn't really
necessary but it's most helpful at low levels when the PC has
< 100 HP and doesn't have the resists to survive a diety's bolts
or doesn't have healing/herbs to recover quickly enough.

A priest or paladin can easily be crowned at lvl 1 in the ID with
their starting holy symbol.

Hmmm, I haven't thought of that. I should give it another try.

My original idea was to get an eternium mindcrafter crowned with
Branalbin's and blast everything with TB. It still might be possible.

I've had one eternium man, a hurthling monk, use overflow piety to get
several precrowns and a crowning. In a large dark room filled with red
worms, the PC prayed til overflow and only a few solars were summoned
outside of the room and those were easily dispatched in the dark. The
red worms eventually took over the level, burned his spellbook of
darkness and torch, and killed him.

Solars and Holy Slayers can handled with darkfighting as long as
they are on the open floor, in an empty corridor, or scared in the
corner. When they have nowhere else to run, they'll run into you.

One viable tactic is to summon in a darkened corridor, teleport them
away, and handle them individually. Another would be to gremlin bomb
the whole cave while invisible, and not let any be summoned.

I got a piety reduction of 200 regardless of success / failure
but the "bolting" level is 5000 piety "wide" so you'd need
more than 20 uses at 200 piety each. If your character failed
about half the time that would work out about right. Otherwise
I'm missing a trick and the use might cost more in different
circumstances (non-paladin / priests for example).

> it's most helpful at low levels when the PC has
> < 100 HP and doesn't have the resists to survive a diety's bolts

I am not aware of any resistances or immunities that reduce
a deity's bolts. Have you had someone bolted for less than
67-79 points damage? It's recorded that a fallen champion sometimes
seems immune, but I don't know of anyone taking _reduced_ damage.

Well I think I have had paniced creatures attack me in the dark
when they could have run. Most importantly this happens with
the Greater Water Dragon. If this were no so you'd be able to get
a ton of experience from killing her in the dark at low level.
As it is she is almost guaranteed to panic as it takes ages to
kill her with a low level character on beserk.

This is outstanding information. I've no idea what the formula is
for successful turning, but I fail to turn far more than half the
time. It seems that if turning always costs the same regardless of
success, a PC could get their piety to overflow with about 4500
turnings from the point at which their diety starts to summon.

I don't remember ever being bolted for less than 70pts of damage, but
I've certainly been bolted for more. I've had PC's with more than
115 HP die from bolting.

Darkfighting is risky business. I believe there is a chance for a
monster to panic and run in a random direction even if it is already
panicked. Also, I've seen monsters panic when only moderately injured.

What causes monsters to panic? Getting critically injured, taking
damage from a source out of LOS, scare monster spell, berferking
while not standing next to the PC, anything else?

You'd need a tremendous attack to kill the water dragon at a low level.
She regenerates too fast otherwise. Successfully casting slow monster
on her should reduce her rate of regeneration, but will lower her xp
reward.

True berserking Big Punch w/ +8 DMG from talants while blessed and
drunk should provide enough damage. An archer, assassin, or hurthling
loaded
with talants also might have a shot. Getting crowned with vanquisher or
precrowned with wyrmlance has obvious benefits. With a wand of webbing,
scroll of darkness, and some booze, it might be possible to kill her at
Clvl 9 or less.

I've posted a strategy for this at the hof forums. Have the PC
partially darken the bottom corridor of the WDC leaving a lit square at
one of the
ends of the corridor. While standing on the lit square create and lock
a door to the north, and fill the darkened corridor with webs. Drop and
pick up a gold piece and melee/missile the dragon to death. It's
possible for her to get a double move and teleport away, but should
that happen, the PC can easily reset the trap, since picking up items
teleports her next to the PC and gets rid of her fear.

Hmmm sounds like a challange.
Lowest level, non-companion assisted, water dragon slaying challenge.
