Most futile ADOM player?

I recently killed off yet another character who made it deep into the
game.
So I pose this question: Who can claim the title of most futile
ADOM player?
Only players without any wins are eligible, time playing or number of
characters aren't significant, its all about number of characters
taken deep into the game.

I count at least a dozen of my characters who have made it past
the [spoily noteworthy mid-game point], four of whom have had three
or more [spoily significant objects], and one of whom died on the final
level.

I'm sure someone can do much better (worse?) than that...

6 deaths in L50 (4 vere non scum, 1 scumed, one used trainer ), + 1
dead character after accidentally runing throught portal minutes before
possible victory (aehm ... cat on keyboard)

I've gotten to the [spoily noteworthy mid-game point] with a great deal
of my characters, and they've all died a YASD. It's incredibly
annoying.

My cheating would make most of you vomit, and I've still only gotten to
the Casino once. *That's* futile, not to mention pathetic.

On his website, Josh likens ADOM to Dom Perignon. It's a good
metaphor, and I'd like to expand on it a little: The way I play ADOM is
like drinking Dom Perignon out of a bag in the park. :/ And yet I
hardly get anywhere, contrasted with a lot of you who bust your asses,
play fairly and get to savor the occassional victory.

FWIW, I find imposing some reasonable rule on my scumming helped me much
more than total scumming did.
I would give myself one restore for any character which had reached some
reasonable point in the game. This way I still felt the pain of death (uh
oh, the next one is real!), but also gave myself some margin of error.

This taught me to be a more careful player and it was easy to stop
scumming once I had become sufficiently familiar with the game.

Hey, let's keep our juices straight. I said Cabernet Sauvignon, damnit. Not
that I drink either of those anyway. All there is in this house is Absolut
Rasperry and honey lager.

I'm so freaking bored. Somebody write my novel for me; I'll give you five
Canadian dollars.

Try going without cheating. I remember when I realized that
save-scumming might actually make one play worse, and not able to
survive. I had save-scummed this Gnomish Elementalist past Small Cave,
and had went down the dungeon (UD?). I had gotten some levels, learned
Earthquake, and when I met this regenerating golem/statue thing I
accidentally casted Earthquake instead of Fire Bolt. That was bad. It
left me with only 2 pp. I couldn't toast it, and it always killed me. It
was the farthest I had gotten. My high-score consisted of that one guy
for over 20 entries a long time after that incident. I got bored of
save-scumming. I tried to go without it, for a while. After I had gotten
down to UD, and then up for the first time, I decided to try the poor
gnome again. I survived, easily. I *ran away*, rested to regain pp, and
bolted it to death.

When I save-scummed, I hadn't learned about "tactical withdrawal" ('T',
'-' until Coward, run away!), or paid enough attention to different
choices of weaponry, spells and equipment in different situations.
Spears and Shields raise DV, and they are very nice against strong
creatures, slow but dangerous creatures, and hordes of enemies. Some
creatures might have too much PV to hurt with puny weapons, and some
spesific enemies can destroy iron equipment, so heavier or back-up
weapons should be carried. Stone Clubs and Stone Spears are very useful,
and my Mindcrafters will carry one until they find mithril or,
preferably, adamantium weapon. And if you can't hurt that Fire Beetle
without changing Tactics to Berserk, you should consider choosing a
different weapon against it.

Hope this offered another view to the matter.

Ehm, it sounds kinda Czech to me. In english it should be something
like "Meows Clawer". I think it was supposed to be a reaction to that
adom-playing cat. Btw, my cat once killed moloch! (stepped on the
right button on keyboard in right time :)

Thanks all, for the helpful replies and lack of flames. It may be time
for me to start playing honest characters again, and when JADE is
finished I'm going to discover its world in an honest fashion and with
some willpower never stoop to drinking it out of a bag.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Sauvignon... Trying
not to make the hate mail page again... :D

Yeah, it was intended as a Czech pun on Andor Drakon (since the person I
was replying to was Czech... if I recall correctly).

And here they say Cat's Claw is a mediocre weapon! :)
