Athlon heat, again :(

Hi!

I having some problems with my AMD Athlon 1100MHz.
It keeps crasching from time to time, and I just
cant figure out what might be wrong. The CPU temp
is about 60C and I talked to alot of people and
some say it is to hot and some say it is OK, so it's
really confusing me. What do you guys say about it?

If the heat isnt the problem maby the Power Supply
is, it's and AOpen and has the following info:
AC Input: 115/230V~ 10/5A, 60/50Hz
DC Output: 250W

May it be the power supply that is causing the freezes?

This is the other stuff I have in the computer:
Asus A7V MB
256MB PC-133 compatible RAM
IBM Deskstar 46GB HDD
Creative GeForce 2 Ultra grafix card
Sound Blaster Player 5.1 sound card
3Com 10/100 NIC
Pioneer 16/40 DVD player
NEC Floppy drive

I would really appreciate if you could help me out with this,
I dont want to use the computer until I know what is wrong.

Agreed. Especially with that Ram and the GeForce. Get a good 300W from the AMD reccomended list.

Now lets try to work eith what you have first.

Try running with the case open.

Next: Try using default settings in Bios. Get rid of the speed enhancements. Especially with memory and all. Hell why not let it reconfig you IRQ's, should be in PNP settings.

Now how about drivers. Re-do the video drivers (goto PCI VGA prior to installing new drivers.) Then how about latest VIA drivers (maybe even try not using the "Turbo" mode).

Try reinstalling apps giving probs. or latest drivers for everything.

Lastly before a new power supply how about a fresh install with latests drivers. Run a bit before loading too much and then load one at a time to narrow down what is giving probs.
