Looking over the specs, the 20" ultra sharp seems to be superior in all
aspects. I really don't need 20" for my desktop but wonder why they don't
make a smaller monitor, say 17" or 18" with the same .255 pixel pitch and a
quick resonse of 16ms? Such a monitor should also cost less than the 20".
Is there another manufacturer which has what I'm looking for?

I wouldn't touch Dell's LCD screens.

The Samsung I first tried was far superior in quality, Dell lied to me to
make the sale, and now I'm stuck with an inferior screen.

The Dell screen has the same specs as the Samsung, but is inferior in
quality.

That's a surprising assertion, given the percentage of Dell LCD panels
MANUFACTURED by Samsung.

So far, I've seen two responses from you today. Both were uninformed
opinions with no basis in fact.

I did look at Dell's 17". It's Pixel pitch is 264mm vs. 255 for the 20" and
its response time is 25ms vs.16 for the 20". The 20" cost $340 more. It
seems to me that they could make a 17" with the same performance as the 20"
at a lower cost.

If you're looking for a high quality screen, go for Samsung, truly excellent
quality.

If you don't really care, Dell's ok.

But the two don't compare IMNSHO

I clearly do know that over 50% of Dell models are Samsung.

You clearly fail in attempts at mind reading.

You clearly do not understand that companies sometimes make more than one
quality of screen (shock news!)

I've no idea what models Dell use from Samsung, but they're poor quality.

The Samsung model I bought in a store was far superior in quality to the
cheap one I got in my standard Dell system.

Then you bought the wrong model. Dell has two levels of LCD Panels for the
smaller sizes. If you bought the cheap one, you bought the cheap one.

If you do know these things, then you don't communicate well.
