So I have a Dell P4 computer 256mb memory that was running just fine on a workgroup. I moved the computer onto a domain and now I'm haveing major slowdown issues. Particularly when trying to open My Computer. It often hangs completely or it takes forever for the icons to appear.
To make matters worse. I tried to re-install xp by reloading it as an update and now I get an error message after I log in telling me
"Limited Virtual Memory. Your system has no paging file or the paging file is too small"
so I go into the Controle Panel/System/Advanced/Performence and then I get another message
"Windows created a temporary paging file on your computer because of a problem with your paging file config when you started your computer. Total paging file size for all disk drives my be somewhat larger than what you specified."
I click ok on this pop up and it lets me in to the paging file set up. But when I set the custom values to 386 min/max or if I leave the setting to windows managed I still get the error at login and when I go the change the settings. If I select no paging file then the log in error goes away but I still get the message when I enter the paging file pannel. If you have any Idea how to restore my preformence and make this paging file problem go away please let me know. Thanks.

You may not have enough space available on that partition/drive and will have to either set it up on another partition/drive with enough free space or increase the freespace on the partition where it is set too.
I have the free space on my drives to create a special partition at 1.5GB just for the page file and set it at 768-1450mb or something like it to the new partition then I remove the old settings on the C:\ drive.
