Best laptop for gaming under $2000

Hello there Tom's Hardware,

I am looking at getting a multi-purpose laptop, and at that, one that I can play my games on (Command and Conquor 4, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2/Black Ops, Fallout New Vegas) and play them on a relatively high quality. This laptop must also have quality cooling and a battery life of at least 4 hours (admittedly less if I am hardcore gaming).

The laptops I have been looking at:

I am open to more suggestions as I am unfamiliar with the laptop market (and I have built all of my desktops myself by purchasing the parts seperately) and I do not want to spend too much. Also, I do not want to have the laptop shipped in to me. I do not care how reliable it is, I refuse to pay shipping and insurance on a $1500 piece of technology; I live in Western Australia.

So my friends, Which is best?

  1. Between those choices,ASUS G51 is the best choice;however, there are better alternatives such as ASUS G73JH(Or G53JW if you need a 15" laptop).
Gaming laptops don't have a great battery life, the maximum battery I've seen on a laptop was like 3-4hrs(MSI GX640) and 2-3hrs(ASUS G73JH)
  2. I had considered the G73JH however the aforementioned website - MSY - Lists that at $2599. That is much more expensive than I was hoping to pay. However I am still considering the G73JW model from XOTIC PC

Does anybody know about the quality and reliability of XOTICPC when shipping long distances overseas? Do they sell the power adapters in different models for different countries? Are they a quality service?

XoticPC is a reliable site with great support.I'm not sure about the power adapters so send them an e-mail and ask about them and the shipping cost
  4. I'd check out

    Asus G73JW-A1
    Clevo W870CU-PS1
    Clevo X7200 (nVidia)
    Clevo X8100 (ATI)

All are available from many vendors, but I usually find the best deal on this site:

  5. Looking at that, none of the Clevo laptops suit my budget. Also, I would much prefer to buy a computer locally than online as I do not fully trust it.
However, if I was forced to buy online, I would prefer to purchase the ASUS G73-XR1 over the -A1 from XOTIC PC, which offers more customisation and a lower final price. Also, I have discovered both the GX640 and GX740 from MSI as well. When given 8GB RAM and some other knick-knacks, they stack up pretty nicely.

  6. MSI GT780 DXR

    Intel Core i7
    Steel series Full-Color Backlight Keyboard
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 570M discrete graphics (DDR5 1.5GB VRAM)
    12GB DDR3 memory
    Built-in 720p HD webcam
    USB 3.0
    1TB Hard Drive
  7. MSI GT780 DXR is the best one :)
