Hi!

I having some problems with my AMD Athlon 1100MHz.
It keeps crasching from time to time, and I just
cant figure out what might be wrong. The CPU temp
is about 60C-65C and I talked to alot of people and
some say it is to hot and some say it is OK, so it's
really confusing me. What do you guys say about it?

I have connected the computer to a small LAN and shared
a folder on it. When the 'screen/mouse/keyboard' froze
I could still access the share, move, start, copy and
delete files. Seams like it freezes but I can still
access it over the LAN but not from the computer itself.

This is really confusing me and I really hope you
have any idea what might be wrong.

This is the other stuff I have in the computer:
300W Athlon Recomended Power Supply
Asus A7V MB
256MB PC-133 compatible RAM
IBM Deskstar 46GB HDD
Creative GeForce 2 Ultra grafix card
Sound Blaster Player 5.1 sound card
3Com 10/100 NIC
Pioneer 16/40 DVD player
NEC Floppy drive

I would really appreciate if you could help me out with this,
I dont want to use the computer until I know what is wrong.

It sounds like this is not a problem with the CPU or motherboard, it's probably something to do with your input devices. There maybe something conflicting with the IRQ's or DMA's the mouse and/or keyboard are using. Alternatively, it could be that a driver is not installed properly.

I really need more details though - what win are you using? Are your mouse/keyboard PS2, USB, AT, Serial etc...

Hi!

I am using Windows 2000 with SP1
For the GeForce ULTRA card I have the detanator 3 drivers.
Mouse and keybaord are both on PS/2.
If you need even more details, please let me know
and I will do my best to get them.

It might be running just a tad hot. I have seen similar things happen to mine when I try to push it too high and then run certain programs, and I have a PIII system. The mouse and keyboard lock sometimes around 65C, but all the programs that didn't crash continue to run in the background. When I clock it back down a bit it runs cooler and quits crashing. I would get a better cooler-if your overclocked right now, try clocking it down a little. Otherwise, you can just get a better cooler.

I am not overclocking it, and I dont know about the heat.
Noone seams to know if 60C-65C is to hot or not, and I cant
find any info about what heat an Athlon 1100MHz CPU should
run at on AMD's page

Well, it seems to me that most of these Athlon guys are running 45-60C, so 65 might be a little warm. Do you have good case ventilation?

Dont know, I guess I could add an extra chassie fan,
the box is an AOpen Miditower. I once tried to add 2
extra big fans, but the CPU heat didnt go down :(
