what operating system ? having a web server running on your system really only needs port 80 (unless you config it differently),I dont quite see what popups have to do with your web server?

oh sorry.... it is 2000 prof.... i should go with 2000 server though, dont you think? the pop up think doesnt really have to do with it, i just didnt want to put both on the system in case there would be some kind of conflict.

I use blackice.

I would use Norton if i thought it was smaller or freer.

I didn't like Zone Alarm much, it confused me, plus it made me make too many decisions. Blackice you just set "nervous" or cautious" or "hack me, please!" and it gets on with it!

I know its not as good, but i like an easy life, me.

www.xitami.com - Excellent configuration options
or
www.apache.org - More powerful but harder to configure

Go with BlackIce, it's the best for Windows.
If you're sick of those popups, may I suggest this?

I hope that helps you out

Check out http://www.grc.com and try the 'ShieldsUP!' tester...it tests your firewall's ability--or inability.

Last I checked, BlackICE defender failed quite badly...I use ZoneAlarm myself.
